At Dainty Dawlz, we believe health starts at day zero—and thoughtful care begins even before birth. Our approach values parent health testing, veterinary guidance, proper nutrition, and attentive newborn care to give each puppy a strong foundation. From their first heartbeat to their first playful steps, their wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do.
0-63 DAYS!
Days 0–63 are mom’s prenatal stage, when the puppies develop inside her. Pregnancy averages about 63 days from ovulation, so the timing can differ when counted from the breeding date.
WEEKS 1-3
Fertilization and early embryo development occur. The embryos attach to the uterus, while mom may show few outward changes.
Weeks 4–5
Puppies’ organs and bodies develop. A veterinarian can usually confirm pregnancy with ultrasound around days 25–35.
Weeks 6–7
Puppies grow rapidly, and mom’s belly and nutritional needs increase. Her comfort, appetite, and wellbeing need close attention.
Weeks 8–9
Puppies finish developing as mom prepares for birth. Nesting may begin, and a quiet whelping space and veterinary birth plan become especially important.
